The week's most important detail is Monday. Korea's official 2026 calendar identifies 17 August as the substitute holiday for Liberation Day. Any operator rule that distinguishes an ordinary Monday from a public-holiday Monday must therefore be applied carefully.
Fastest read: Seoul and Wonju have published public-holiday Monday exceptions worth checking for 17 August; Busan remains closed Monday and Tuesday under its current line pages; Buyeo has no county city tour throughout August; Chuncheon's summer night tour is still inside its final two-week window.
Seoul: Monday is a public-holiday case
Tiger Bus's main daytime course is closed on ordinary Mondays but states that it operates when Monday is a public holiday. Because 17 August is the official substitute holiday, it is a scheduled candidate—not an automatic closure. Yellow Balloon's current timetable lists weekday service, but both operators can issue date-specific notices.
For route choice and ticket exchange, use the Tiger vs Yellow Balloon comparison. Reopen the chosen operator's timetable on the morning of travel.
Busan: closed 17–18 August, route candidates 19–23 August
The current Red, Green and Orange pages list Wednesday–Sunday operation with Monday–Tuesday closure. That makes 17 and 18 August closed under the published weekly pattern, followed by scheduled route days from Wednesday 19 through Sunday 23.
Online purchase does not remove the first-come boarding rule. Use the Busan route and accommodation guide to select one priority line before attempting a transfer.
Gyeongju: match each date to the course weekday
- Mon 17: daily World Heritage, Monday Yangdong–Namsan and daily City Night are published candidates.
- Tue 18: World Heritage, East Coast and City Night.
- Wed 19: World Heritage, Silla History and City Night.
- Thu 20: World Heritage, East Coast and City Night.
- Fri 21: World Heritage, Silla History and City Night.
- Sat 22–Sun 23: World Heritage, East Coast and City Night.
Every core course reviewed here carries a minimum group of 15 and Korean-language commentary. The Gyeongju course guide explains the pickup and cost differences.
Jeonju: use the dated operator calendar only
Jeonju's 2026 product is a subsidised themed tour whose route can change by month. Do not infer a departure from the weekday or reuse an earlier itinerary. Only a date carrying an active product and price on the operator calendar should be treated as a booking candidate; minimum-group and operator confirmation still apply.
Yeosu: Monday rules differ by product
Yeosu does not have one common closure calendar. Course 1 publishes a second-Monday closure, while the daytime double-decker and ordinary double-decker night product publish first- and third-Monday closures. Because 17 August is the third Monday, those products do not all have the same status.
The seasonal Buskers night product replaces the ordinary double-decker night format on Friday and Saturday during its published 2026 season. For 21–22 August, open the performance product and dated booking inventory rather than assuming the ordinary night route.
Gongju: weekend candidates, unresolved label conflict
Gongju publishes weekend operation from March through November, so 22 and 23 August are in the broad season. However, the dated 2026 launch release assigns Saturday to Family Healing and Sunday to History & Culture, while the live operating guide currently reverses those labels.
Do not silently choose one version. Match the route name, price and stops shown in the actual reservation calendar before paying. The service also depends on minimum participants and operating conditions.
Buyeo: no city tour this week
Buyeo County's official 2026 guide states that its weekend city tour pauses for all of July and August because of extreme heat. There is therefore no county tour candidate for 17–23 August. The announced autumn restart is 5 September.
Chuncheon: summer night route on 21–22 August
Chuncheon uses a different daytime product by weekday, and its route set changed from 1 July. Check the current booking site for the exact dated product from Monday through Sunday.
The separate Lake Starlight Night Tour is published for Friday and Saturday through 29 August. Friday 21 and Saturday 22 fall inside that period, with an 18:30 departure candidate from Chuncheon Station. Remaining inventory is not visible here.
Wonju: public-holiday Monday exception
Wonju's official English page says the year-round circuit is normally closed Monday but operates on Monday public holidays. That makes 17 August a candidate under the published rule. The same page lists regular Tuesday–Sunday service for 18–23 August.
Buy-on-board access still does not guarantee capacity, and attraction operating hours are separate from the bus timetable.
Best planning order for this week
- Lock the date rule: public-holiday Monday, ordinary weekday or weekend.
- Choose the exact product: do not collapse multiple operators or themed routes into one city label.
- Check the booking inventory: especially Gyeongju, Jeonju, Gongju and Chuncheon.
- Check the minimum group: a listed date may still be cancelled.
- Reopen notices on the travel morning: heavy rain, heat, events and traffic remain live variables.
